Two Conversations Yesterday

…walking into Broadway Market…

Friend: You know, I really like Neutral Milk Hotel. I keep listening to "Two-Headed Boy."
Me: I like "Communist Daughter" myself.

…watching The O.C., listening to Sufjan Stevens' "For the Widows in Paradise; For the Fatherless in Ypsilanti" play as background music.

Other friend: This emo music sucks.
Me: It's not emo, it's folk.
Other friend: But it's all emotional…
Another friend: Dude, that's a banjo.
Yet another friend: Well, it still sucks.

All the guy did was whine about how sad he was…banjo or not it was definitely emo.

John, if you were from Michigan, you would be sad too.
