Full Text ➝ Summary

In what is definitely the strangest way I have ever celebrated New Year's, I am changing the site's RSS feeds from full text to summary. If this causes a problem for anyone, let me know, and I will consider changing them back.

This would be a problem. If you have a small summary. I am less likely to read what you have to say, as i scan around 100 feeds in Gregarius . Some people read every post they get in their aggregator and then follow up if they are interested. However, I scan all the feed posts I get, at high speed, to find articles I might be interested in reading further. Then, I flag them for further reading. If I am still interested in the post, I head over to the blog to see if there are any comments.

What are your reasons for changing to a summary view?

Switching to summary feeds allows me to better see which posts are the most popular. Like you, Sameer, I read most articles in my aggregator. Since most of the sites I follow do not have vibrant comments sections, I rarely click-through to their posts. When reading those sites with summary feeds, however, I always click through if the post's subject sounds interesting. Therefore, I believe that switching to summaries will allow me to better see how many people are reading the site.

I promise to write more expansive summaries in the future. I have been a bit lax in the past because the only place that they were displayed were on the Archive pages, which rarely get human visitors.
