Mildly concerned about the fact that there was no way to contact me other than posting a comment, I created a contact page, using Matt Mullenweg's page as inspiration. Unlike Matt, I refrained from adding my cell phone number; I get enough strange messages as it is.

the first time i read this, i thought of that mid-90s movie with Jodie Foster in it. you're not really an alien trying to convince me that you're my father so i won't be afraid of you, are you?
man, i hope you saw that movie, or else that reference will be completely worthless.
Contact is one of those movies which I have never seen and doubt that I shall be ever interested in seeing. As a result, I spent some time a number of months ago reading the entire Wikipedia entry (including the plot summary) and whatever else interesting I could find about it. I was going to make a reference to the film in the title of this post, but realized two things:
it would be crass to make a reference to a film I had never seen
I did not remember anything of the plot (Wikipedia summaries just do not have the same mental staying power as actually watching the film, apparently), except the existence of aliens, a journey to meet them, and some sort of failure.
After posting this, I realized I might as well have made a reference to the film, since it was clear that few people would understand its pseudo-military roots, since the "at will" reference was too obscure.
