This New York Times article, is entitled, "4 Americans Were on Plane That Crashed in the Red Sea." But look at this quote:

The passengers included Edward Zalaznick, a 42-year-old New Yorker who lived in Paris with his wife, Isabelle Fouchard, 43, and their three children, David, 12, Paul, 9, and Thomas, 6. Mr. Zalaznick and the three children held dual French and American citizenship.

Am I missing something here, or is that five Americans?

Happened to be clicking around your blog after you sent an email to the mooselist and saw this entry. I had wondered the same thing myself when I saw the article, but I think I get it now. The wife, Isabelle Fouchard, is not an American. The husband is, and the three kids have dual citizenship, but she does not. Therefore, 4 Americans and a poorly written article.
